The University of South Wales (USW) Scholarship for International Students

Do you live outside Wales but wish to enrol in one of the country’s largest universities and have access to scholarships available to international students? Well, look no further as I provide you with all that there is to know about the University of Wales Scholarship for international students. 

I will address all the critical information you will need to make your application process a lot easier.

About University of South Wales

The University of South Wales is a public university in Wales that came about in 2013 due to a merger between the University of Wales, Newport and the University of Glamorgan. The university offers courses in three faculties throughout its three campuses in Wales. Faculties are;

  • Faculty of Creative Industries 
  • Faculty of Life Sciences and Education
  • Faculty of Computing, Engineering and Science

The University of South Wales has got you covered no matter the qualification. The university has won several awards due to its superior performances and ranks high in many recognized surveys.

University of South Wales International Scholarships 

The University of South Wales understands the difficulty of paying international fees, so the school has an array of scholarships for such students. Below is a complete list of international scholarships available in the school detailing the value of each scholarship, who qualifies etc.?

International Office Scholarships

Benefits: Undergraduate – maximum £1,500

                 Postgraduate – maximum £2,000

Eligibility: international students funding their own education

Application Process/Deadline; no application needed. The university considers you for this scholarship the moment your application is received.

Chancellors International Development Scholarships

Benefits: Up to £2,500. 

The scholarship offers £2,800 for undergraduates from Ghana and Nigeria.          

Eligibility: undergraduate and postgraduates from Africa, South Asia, Central Asia and Turkey, Latin America, Lebanon, Norway, Caribbean and South East Asia.

Not available to Higher National Diploma students and Foundation Degree students. The Chancellors International Development Scholarship is also not available to funded students and English Language programs.

Application Process/Deadline; No application is needed; the university considers you for this scholarship when your application is received.

EU Scholarships

Benefits: tuition fees not exceeding the amount paid by domestic students.

Eligibility: Students from the European Union applying for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

Application Process/Deadline; no application needed. The university considers you for this scholarship the moment your application is received.

USW International Students progressing to Masters

Benefits: up to £6,000

In order to secure a scholarship, the applicant must pay a certain amount within a particular period, which is indicated in the admission letter. 

Eligibility: international students who funded their own studies (either undergraduate or a top-up degree) at the University of South Wales.

Sponsored students are not eligible, i.e., sponsored by a company, government, or any other scholarship scheme.

GREAT Scholarships

Benefits: £10,000

Eligibility: Postgraduate Pakistan students in the following program; science, computing, life sciences, education, engineering and creative industries. 

Sponsored students do not qualify for the GREAT scholarship as well as students applying for English Language programmes.

Application Process/Deadline; No application needed. The university considers you for this scholarship the moment your application is received.

Chevening Scholarships

Benefits: tuition fees and living expenses for a year.

Eligibility: available to highly exceptional students from over 150 countries minus USA and the European Union. Students must possess skills that qualify them to become leaders in academia, media, politics, etc.

Application Process/ Deadline; applications open in August and close in November.

Commonwealth Scholarships

Benefits: full tuition fees, living expenses, cost of flight from your home country to the UK, warm clothing allowance and thesis grant.

Eligibility: students from developing Commonwealth countries.

Global Wales Postgraduate Scholarship

Benefits: £10,000 that goes to the payment of tuition fees.

Eligibility: students from countries in the European Union, USA, India and Vietnam. A scholar must have applied to the university for a Postgraduate Course for the next academic year. PhD, MPhil, Postgraduate diploma, postgraduate certificate, Masters by Research or Erasmus programmes do not qualify for this scholarship.

Application Process/Deadline: applications must be sent before 30th June of each academic year. 

The Global Wales British Council India Scholarship (Telangana)

Benefits: £5,000 as a discount on tuition fees

Eligibility: must be an Indian, born and/or studied in the state of Telangana. Must have obtained admission to pursue a one-year postgraduate course which does not include an MBA Global. 

CONCLUSION

As you must have observed from the above list of international scholarships available at the University of South Wales, there is usually no official process for applying for scholarships. You will automatically be considered for a scholarship the moment the university receives your application.

Each scholarship has its own unique benefits, and you will be awarded any of them if you meet their eligibility criteria.

Most of the international scholarships offered by the University of South Wales does not require any application. Applicants will automatically be considered for a scholarship the moment the university receives your application.

No! International students qualify for vaccination and are encouraged to get vaccinated if the student is yet to. However, it is not compulsory.
